Welcome in the Gravel Heaven of The Netherlands: Zuid-Limburg

Building on the success of the 8th edition in 2024, the 9^th edition of the Gravel Series Limburg takes place on Saturday September 6, with the small town of Banholt as the trusted start and finish location.

All elements for a successful ride are present. Unique routes over the many beautiful gravel and unpaved tracks in the hillside of Zuid-Limburg and the border region. We will pass the many places which have played a roll during the liberation of our region in September 1944, such as the first liberated town in the Netherlands, the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten and the Westwall near Aachen.

Start- en finishlocation in Banholt

The start and finish location of the Gravel Series Limburg is in Banholt. Home town of the organization, a privilege to be fully integrated in this tiny community in the hills of Zuid-Limburg. Banholt is part of the Citta Slow municipality Eijsden-Margraten. Famous for its fruit production and beautiful landscape. As organization we are a supporter of the Citta Slow mindset, and are acting accordingly keeping in mind the beauty of our region, its people and nature.

Routes of the Gravel Series Limburg

The 9^th edition of the Specialized Gravel Series Limburg offers three unique routes. The routes can only be followed with a navigation device. GPX files will be send a couple of days ahead of the event.

Liberation ride

This route is perfect for the gravel novice. An easy-going ride on some great gravel along some of the best kept secrets in the municipality of Eijsden-Margraten. This 65km long route with 500HM is doable for all levels and offers a wide variety of slow and fast gravel.

Specialized Crossborder ride

This challenging ride brings you across the border into Belgium and Germany. Beautiful gravel roads through the natural beauty of our region will make everyone’s heart beat faster.

With 125km and 1400HM this route offers you a good balance between climbing and faster gravel.

Grenspaal12 Ultimate ride

This is our ultimate gravel challenge. A whopping 190-200km ride where you can really test yourself. Our route chief, Lars Toma, will lay down this route in the Spring of 2025 with his team. But we can already inform you that this will be something special. We will ride farm roads, forest tracks, we will cross borders and pass historical sites. This route brings you the most beautiful and challenging gravel parts of Zuid-Limburg and the border region. Who dares Wins……

The routes can only be followed using a GPX track. This will be sent in the week prior to the event.

Collecting starting numbers

The start numbers can be collected from Friday September 5th, from 15.00h, or on Saturday, September 6th, from 6.15h at the start and finish zone in Banholt.

Parking

The parking area is situated 100 meters from the start and finish zone. Parking will not be accessible from 8.30h from both sides of the village because of the National Gravel Youth race. We strongly advice to park your car before 8.30h. This will offer you plenty of time to prepare yourself and your bike. Free Coffee and thee is available for you at the start and finish zone.

• Parking nearby the finish

• A minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 food stops with water, sports drink, fruit, bars, local delicacies, etc.

• Warm meal after the finish (burger or pasta)
